We use gold-standard technology, including GE electronic diagnostic ultrasound, to ensure accurate diagnosis from your very first appointment and you’ll always be seen by the right clinician from the outset. Our specialists Sam Bourgein and Joe Meara both work as Extended Scope Physiotherapists within the NHS, experienced in managing all musculoskeletal conditions, from routine injuries to complex cases that may not have responded to conventional therapy elsewhere.
We pride ourselves on offering a truly multidisciplinary service, continually innovating and investing in advanced treatments not commonly available elsewhere in Oxfordshire. With a growing list of outstanding patient testimonials, The Move Clinic is committed to raising the standard of musculoskeletal care giving the people of Oxford the expertise, technology and support they deserve.

Your initial appointment is designed to understand both your condition and your goals in detail. It’s helpful to bring along any previous reports or scans related to your injury or symptoms, as this can give valuable background information.
The session will begin with a subjective assessment, where your clinician will discuss your symptoms, how they started, and how they affect your daily life helping to identify the underlying cause of your problem. This is followed by a comprehensive physical examination, which may include diagnostic ultrasound imaging if appropriate, to assess the affected area in real time.
Once a diagnosis is reached, a personalised treatment plan will be developed based on your lifestyle and goals, whether that’s returning to sport, staying active at work, or moving without pain, so you know exactly what to expect moving forwards.
-
To make sure we can assess and treat you as effectively as possible, please bring:
Any previous medical reports related to your condition. This may include orthopaedic or rheumatology letters, physiotherapy notes, or discharge documents.
Copies of past ultrasound, X-ray or MRI results, even if they were done some time ago.
A current list of medications you are taking.
Appropriate clothing that allows easy examination of the affected area (e.g. shorts for lower-limb issues, a vest top for shoulder or neck problems).
Your health insurance information, if you intend to claim through your provider.
Having this information to hand allows your clinician to form a more accurate picture of your condition, helping fast-track your diagnosis and ensuring your treatment plan is tailored to you from day one.

At The Move Clinic, all injections are performed under precise ultrasound guidance, which has repeatedly been shown to be far superior to non-guided injections. For example, research has demonstrated that acromioclavicular joint injections without ultrasound guidance have a success rate as low as 33%, a figure that is no longer acceptable in modern care.
Ultrasound allows your clinician to choose the safest and most comfortable technique, optimising accuracy and treatment outcomes. Some procedures, such as joint or swelling aspiration, hydrodistension for frozen shoulder, or treatment for shoulder calcification, are delicate and should only be performed under ultrasound guidance.
Before the injection, a local anaesthetic is applied to the skin to minimise discomfort. During your initial consultation, we’ll also discuss aftercare carefully to ensure the best results and reduce any risk of setbacks during recovery.
At The Move Clinic, we want the best for our patients, providing advanced, evidence-based treatments that deliver the fastest and most effective outcomes.

At The Move Clinic, we have close working relationships with local radiology departments and can arrange rapid access to X-ray or MRI imaging when additional diagnostics are required.
If your condition would benefit from a specialist opinion, we also provide fast-track referral pathways to leading orthopaedic surgeons, ensuring you are seen by the most appropriate clinician as soon as possible. Our aim is to avoid any delay in your care and make the transition seamless, getting you the answers and treatment you need without unnecessary waiting.

The speed of recovery varies from person to person and depends on several key factors including how severe your symptoms are, how long they have been present, and the most appropriate treatment for your specific condition.
Some treatments, such as corticosteroid injections, are designed to provide fast and effective pain relief, often within a few days. Others such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma), prolotherapy, or shockwave therapy aim to stimulate your body’s own healing processes to repair damaged tissues. Because these treatments focus on long-term recovery rather than short-term relief, they may take several weeks to show improvement, but are designed to provide more long-lasting benefits.
Your clinician will always choose the most appropriate treatment plan for you and tailored to your condition, goals, and recovery timeline.

Sports therapy and strength & conditioning focus on training the body to move better, get stronger, and stay injury-resilient. By improving your mobility, movement control and muscular strength, we help restore and optimise the way your body performs in day-to-day life, sport and everything in between.
This approach is vital for people with tendon-related pain, recurrent muscle strains, repetitive sports injuries, mild osteoarthritis, or for those looking to improve sports performance.
In today’s world many of us simply don’t move enough, long hours sitting at a desk or working behind a computer can lead to neck, shoulder, hip or lower back pain. A personalised strength & conditioning programme can dramatically improve your musculoskeletal health, reduce pain and improve function.
Our specialist clinician, Nicola, has extensive experience in both sports performance and managing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. She will guide you through a tailored programme designed specifically for your body, your goals and your lifestyle.
