Meet the Team

Mr Sam Bourgein - Consultant Interventional Sonographer, Extended Scope Physiotherapist & Independent Prescriber

Sam Bourgein is an experienced Consultant Interventional Sonographer and Extended Scope Physiotherapist, committed to delivering the highest standard of musculoskeletal care. After completing his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Brighton, Sam worked extensively across London and Oxford within the NHS, developing expertise in complex musculoskeletal conditions. He now holds a senior position as a Consultant Musculoskeletal Sonographer within the NHS, where he provides advanced diagnostic and interventional care.

His career then took him overseas, where he honed his skills in world-renowned clinics across New Zealand and Australia. During this time, he was appointed Lead Medical Clinician for Melbourne Australian Football, gaining invaluable experience in elite-level sports medicine and complex injury management. Sam has also worked with UK Sport, GB Athletics, Manchester United and Oxford United contributing to the care of high-performance athletes at the very top of their disciplines.

Sam is an Independent Prescriber and a highly skilled Musculoskeletal Sonographer, fully trained to assess and treat patients using ultrasound guidance. He is qualified in a wide range of interventional procedures including nerve hydrodissections, ganglion aspirations, joint and tendon injections, calcific barbotage, high-volume Achilles injections, ultrasound-guided hip joint injections, and hydrodilatation for frozen shoulder. He also utilises ultrasound-guided shockwave therapy for precise, targeted treatment of tendon and soft-tissue conditions.

Beyond intervention, Sam is qualified in manipulative techniques and Pilates, which he integrates into rehabilitation programmes to support long-term recovery. He has also acted as acase manager for complex insurance and occupational health cases, with extensive experience in return-to-work planning for patients recovering from significant injury. His clinical practice often focuses on complex patient management, particularly in individuals who have not improved with conventional therapies.

Sam works closely within multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with pain consultants, orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, rheumatologists, and radiologists. He firmly believes in the importance of looking at the whole picture rather than just the pathology in isolation, ensuring that every patient receives holistic, tailored care. Alongside this, he is amentor and educator, actively supporting the development of future clinicians in musculoskeletal medicine and intervention.

Outside of his clinical work, Sam is a keen gym-goer, enjoys motorbike touring across Europe, and continues to play padel at a high level. A former national-level ice hockey player and scratch golfer, he brings his personal passion for sport and movement into his clinical ethos—believing that maintaining activity at all stages of life is key to health and performance.

Sam is proud to provide cutting-edge musculoskeletal diagnostics and evidence-based treatments at The Move Clinic, helping patients access gold-standard care and often avoid unnecessary surgery.

Mr Joe Meara - Consultant Interventional Sonographer, Extended Scope Physiotherapist, Independent Prescriber

Joe Meara is an Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Musculoskeletal Sonographer with extensive experience across elite sport, the NHS, and private practice.

After qualifying as a physiotherapist, Joe developed his clinical expertise within the NHS, working across orthopaedics, rheumatology, and musculoskeletal services. He has built a diverse career spanning professional football, rugby, and the world of ballet, where he gained specialist insight into the management of complex sporting and performance-related injuries.

Joe is highly skilled in the use of diagnostic ultrasound to assess musculoskeletal conditions and is trained in a broad range of ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, including joint and tendon injections, nerve hydrodissections, calcific barbotage, and shockwave therapy. His approach centres on accurate diagnosis, tailored rehabilitation, and evidence-based interventional care to optimise outcomes for his patients.

With a strong belief in a collaborative, multidisciplinary model, Joe works closely with orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists, and sports medicine physicians, ensuring patients receive the most effective and comprehensive care. His particular clinical interest lies in managing persistent musculoskeletal pain and helping patients return to the activities they value most, from elite performance to everyday function.

When not working, Joe is passionate about an active lifestyle and enjoys foil surfing, wakeboarding, and mountain biking. His personal enthusiasm for movement and performance underpins his professional ethos: empowering patients to stay active, recover fully, and avoid unnecessary surgical intervention.

Joe is proud to bring advanced musculoskeletal diagnostics and interventions to The Move Clinic, providing gold-standard care within a supportive and innovative environment.

Nicola Ravenhill - Sports Rehabilitation and Strength and Conditioning Coach BSc MSc

A proven track record of successfully designing and implementing effective prehabilitation and rehabilitation programmes in both the NHS and elite sports settings such as Nottingham forest Football Club and Loughborough Lightning Netball Team.

Nicola also has extensive experience working with the paediatric population both in the NHS and the public-school sector. For the last 2 years she has been working in the NHS as a senior MSK clinician providing accurate clinical assessment and diagnosis as well as targeted functional rehabilitation.

Nicola finds great fulfilment in collaborating closely with patients and supporting them in returning to activities and aspects of life that matter most to them.

Nicola also has a passion for athletics which might explain why she always goes the extra mile for her patients. She also has a passion for travel and can speak almost fluent Spanish.

Jack Daubeney - Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist BSc MCSP

Jack is a Senior Physiotherapist with experience across the NHS, Ministry of Defence and private practice. He has a passion for helping people overcome pain, recover from injury and return to the activities that matter most to them.

Jack works across a broad range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sports-related conditions, with particular experience in injury rehabilitation and helping active individuals return to demanding physical activity. His NHS experience has provided a strong foundation in evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation, while his work with the Ministry of Defence has given him valuable experience managing more complex injuries and supporting individuals to return to high levels of physical performance.

At The Move Clinic, Jack provides comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation. His role complements the clinic's wider specialist team: Sam and Joe provide advanced MSK assessment, diagnostic ultrasound and interventional treatments where appropriate, while Nicola brings specialist expertise in sports rehabilitation, strength and conditioning and physical performance. Jack sits at the centre of the rehabilitation pathway, helping patients understand their diagnosis, manage their symptoms and progress through a structured programme of treatment and exercise.

Jack takes a patient-centred approach, combining hands-on treatment with targeted rehabilitation and exercise. He looks beyond the immediate symptoms to understand the factors contributing to an injury, helping patients develop the strength, movement and confidence required for a lasting recovery. Where appropriate, he works closely with the wider Move Clinic team to ensure patients receive the right combination of clinical assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for their individual needs.

He particularly enjoys working with active individuals and athletes, helping them return to sport and the activities they enjoy while reducing the risk of future injury. For patients requiring a more performance-focused rehabilitation programme, Jack can also work alongside Nicola to progress strength, conditioning and return-to-sport goals.

Outside of work, Jack plays rugby and regularly enjoys strength and conditioning in the gym. Being actively involved in sport gives him a personal understanding of the physical demands of training, competition and injury recovery, which he brings into his approach when working with active patients and athletes.

Jack's approach is centred around clear communication, personalised treatment plans and empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery. His aim is not simply to treat an injury, but to help patients understand their condition, build confidence in their body and return to the things they want to do.
